Best Fall Colors by Bike

Every year around the middle of September, the incredible blue, pink, white and yellow hues of wildflowers give way to the gold of the aspen leaves.  While to many, fall represents the end of summer and generates excitement for the upcoming winter season, others continue to revel in summer activities, albeit with cooler temperatures, fewer crowds and amazing foliage.

Below are a few of our favorite mountain bike trails to experience the awe-inspiring fall foliage in and around Crested Butte.

It has been nearly a month since “the BEST bike demo in the universe” graced the Evolution Bike Park and Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Featuring some of the most popular brands in mountain biking — including Specialized, SCOTT and Yeti among many more — Outerbike offered participants the opportunity to demo as many bikes as time, and their legs, allowed.

Gravity Slave Dual Slalom Results

CBMR hosted the Gravity Slave Mountain Bike Race in the form of a Dual Slalom on Saturday, August 26. This race took place at the base of the Peachtree Lift and featured some intense competition. The Dual Slalom is perfect for cross country and downhill riders alike, and racers compete head-to-head. First, riders are timed on the downhill timing system for seeding. Once they are seeded, they compete in a bracket style format. After the race riders headed to Butte 66 for the awards party with free raffle prizes and complimentary beer from Odell Brewing Co.

Fall has arrived and the leaves are changing colors here in Crested Butte!  Hike, bike or drive your way to Crested Butte this weekend to be awed by the abundance of gold surrounding the mountain and town. Collegiate Mountain Bike Races This Weekend

The Evolution Bike Park, Red Lady, and Silver Queen lifts are currently open Fridays through Sundays until October 2.  

This weekend, there will be temporary trail closures for the Collegiate Mountain Bike Series: 

•Saturday- downhillers: use caution when crossing into Lower Avery, crossing guards will be in place until about 1 PM as cross country races will be going up the summer road.
•Sunday- Captain Jack closed in the morning until race completion (1 PM at the latest). 

Notice: For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted to ride CBMR lifts.
