Expert skiing and riding now open with access via the High Lift

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – February 22 – The moment many Crested Butte locals and guests have been waiting for occurred on Wednesday, February 21, when Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) opened the first extreme terrain of the winter season. Expert skiers and riders accessed the steep terrain of Teocalli Bowl, Headwall, Big Chute and Paradise Cliffs, all via the High Lift.

CBMR is renowned for the 542 acres of inbounds Extreme Limits Terrain that provide expert skiers and riders with some of the best runs in the country.

“The Crested Butte Ski Patrol is psyched to be able to open up some of the extreme terrain that Crested Butte is renowned for,” exclaims CBMR Director of Ski Patrol, Bill Dowell. “With the excitement of this opening, we cannot stress enough the importance of being reasonably cautious and aware of the conditions.”

With nearly three feet of snow falling in the past two weeks and up to a foot in the forecast through Sunday, Ski Patrol...Read more

Snow, events, and savings are abundant at the Butte

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – January 30 – Spring in the mountains is one of the best times of year. Bluebird days, soft snow and lively events signal a change to summer, almost as much as the shorts and Hawaiian shirts seen around the mountain.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is no different; with unique events, great deals and some of Colorado’s best terrain.

Here is a look at spring at CBMR by the numbers:

3 – CBMR’s Sunset Soirees at Ten Peaks take place for three consecutive weeks: March 13, 20 and 27. Soak in the longer days on a snowcat-drawn sleigh ride and bask in the increased sunshine at the Umbrella Bar. This popular event includes a delicious buffet dinner and one complimentary glass of wine or beer; it sells out quickly.

Speaking of three, when you reserve two nights of lodging and two days of lift tickets through Crested Butte Vacations, your third night and day of skiing is free. Guests can take advantage of this great savings promotion for stays between...Read more

Monday’s lift tickets are the cost of the cumulative score of the game

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – January 24 – The penultimate games of the National Football League season took place this past weekend, leaving only two teams to battle it out for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Join Crested Butte Mountain Resort and celebrate the big game between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. Butte 66 will be hosting their annual Big Game Party with food and drink specials, raffles and contests throughout the game.

Guests should plan on sticking around on Monday, February 5, as the price of Monday’s full day lift ticket will be based on the final combined scores of Sunday’s game. The price will be determined using the following formula: $1 per point scored. If the final score is Philadelphia, 24, and New England, 21, the price of a lift ticket for Monday will be $45. However, there is a cap in the event of a high-scoring game; guests will pay no more than $65 for a full day lift ticket.

The big question arises, how...Read more

6”of new snow over the past 24 hours and 20” since Sunday

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – January 11 – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has received 6 inches of fresh snow over the last 24 hours with blue skies and cooler temperatures expected today. It was one year ago that “snowpocolypse” buried Crested Butte with over 10 feet of snow in a 10 day period, and the recent storms are reminiscent of the best days from last season.

Ullr has arrived to Crested Butte by generating 20 inches of new snow in the past week. The recent powder has kept conditions soft on the 78 open trails accessed off of 13 of 15 lifts. Hoots, hollers, high fives and smiles are abundant around the mountain with the fresh snow, and with more snow in the forecast there is no better time to visit Crested Butte! Here are a few images from yesterday afternoon. If you would like more, please contact us.
