Crested Butte Mountain Resort Celebrates the Winter Solstice 
Warm Up by the Fire with a Hot Cider at the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks


MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – December 15 – To celebrate the start of the 2016-2017 winter season and the oncoming increase in daylight, Crested Butte Mountain Resort will play host to the Winter Solstice Après Party on Wednesday, December 21. The party will take place on the mountain at the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks. The Winter Solstice Party brings family and friends together in an intimate but social setting, while highlighting the surrounding peaks under the evening sky.

To participate, guests can catch the last chair or hike up at 4 p.m. to the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Painter Boy Lift. Upon arrival guests can warm up inside or around the fire pit. Enjoy celebrating the winter season with a spiked cider made with local Montanya Oro rum, as well as charcuterie, appetizers, live music and s’mores fixings by the fire. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

Focus within the travel industry is on accessibility; nonstop, direct commercial flights to exciting new destinations are on the rise. In fact, this season, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has five nonstop flights into nearby Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC), including its newest city, Los Angeles (LAX), making access into this snowy paradise even easier. To sweeten the deal, CBMR is throwing in a free lift ticket valid the day of the return, proving you can ski and fly in Colorado in the same day. Service from LAX is provided by Alaska Airlines. The four other nonstop flight hubs are: Chicago (ORD on United Airlines), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW on American Airlines); Denver (DEN on United Airlines) and Houston (IAH on United Airlines).

Summer Solstice and Full Moon Parties, plus daily Lunch Mid-Mountain

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – MAY 23 – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is thrilled to announce that guests can enjoy this past winter’s hotspot in the summer too.  CBMR is opening the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks for a mid-mountain culinary experience to delight in while out hiking and biking on the mountain. The Umbrella Bar opens June 11 for daily service from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with sandwiches, wraps, snacks and a full bar.

“We couldn’t let this outstanding new building sit all summer,” explains Larry Pirner, the resort’s director of culinary. “With such a fantastic location and more and more guests enjoying the mountain, we thought we should give it a shot. There’s no better place in the valley to enjoy some refreshments, so we welcome everyone to come up and say hi to the great crew we have working up there this summer.”

Hill Climb, Winter TerraCross, Live Music, Foot-traffic Lift Rides and More

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – March 24, 2016 – The weekend after the lifts have closed for skiing and riding, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) brings back The Ultimate Snowmobiler for the third year. The Ultimate Snowmobiler event is a weekend full of snowmobile and motorsports mayhem right at the base of the resort, April 8-10. New this year, there will be lift rides on the Red Lady Express chairlift on both Saturday and Sunday for foot passengers who wish to spectate along the on-mountain course. Snowcat-drawn sleigh rides will be available to shuttle spectators from the top of the lift to various competition venues, and from the base to the venues prior to lift operations. The Ice Bar at Uley’s Cabin will be open for on-mountain food and beverages. Butte 66 will also have live music on Friday and Saturday evening for après-race entertainment.

Saturday and Sunday are the exciting days for spectators where snowmobiles and RZR Side-by-Side vehicles will be roosting around the resort in the Hill Climb, and Winter TerraCross competitions. The Hill Climb competition...Read more

Over 8’’of snow has fallen in the last 24 hours.

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Mar 7. – Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has received over 8 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.  Just in time for spring break, the guests and local residents are ecstatic with the snow from mother nature and the stoke levels are high in the lift line. Hopefully, the weather pattern will continue in our favor and our spring break will be filled with lots snow, events and memories to last a lifetime! Here is a picture from today. Flights are still arriving into the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport with some minor delays and Monarch Pass is currently open, check CDOT for more detailed information. Therefore, traveling to and from Crested Butte is possible.
